Studio & Pre-Press Services

Working from supplied digital artwork files and ISO 12647-2 colour management standards, our in-house studio will take care of all aspects of pre-press to ensure your design is faithfully reproduced by either digital or conventional flexo print methods.

The studio team will be happy to help with any specific technical questions and prior to production will issue final pdf proofs for customer approval; including machine proofs on the specified material if requested.

Once approved, we manufacture all our own printing plates - using the latest CTP technology - in-house as well as rotary or flatbed silk screens, thereby allowing us to keep tight control over both quality and lead times.

Artwork Guide

Software

There are many software programs out on the market. The best way to save files is by using the following formats: .ai* .pdf .eps

*please make sure “pdf compatibility” is switched on when saving illustrator files.

Artwork and Colours

Please supply artwork as vectors whenever possible and be sure to include all fonts and placed images. All images must have a minimum resolution of 300dpi and be made from CMYK or Pantone spot colours.

If it is not possible to send the fonts, please outline/contourise all of the type in the artwork. However, if text amends are needed, we will need to know the names of the typefaces used.

White ink and Embellishments

If your artwork contains embellishments like hot foil, embossing, spot varnishes or has colours which need backing with white ink (when printing on clear or silver label substrates), please make sure that they are created on their own separate layers.

Cutters and Bleeds

The die cutter should be clearly marked in your artwork with 1.5mm of bleed around each edge. We also recommended using a 1mm 'text free' zone around the inside of the cutter edge.

If print ready artwork is supplied, this will save time and money. Each amend to artwork will need to be proofed again for an approval signature and will increase lead times.
